Celebrate The Butterfly

Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy!!

I have been in love with lighter Purples here recently. I am loving this Springy vibe that I have had here recently as well. I know that when I get like this, there is only one way for me to really let that out, making something.

So, I got in the office and got to work. I am going to be making the card in the picture above and I hope you do to!

On one of the White pieces measuring 5 1/4” x 4,” I stamped my butterflies, all over. I didn’t worry about stamping in the center too much, due to the fact that most of the center was going to be covered up. I would stamp a couple in the the Pure Plum, and fill in that small area with the Wild Wisteria.

Using a different butterfly stamp, I stamped butterflies across the top of my white piece measuring 3 1/4” x 3 1/4.” This time though, I just rotated which color I was using to form a cute little line of butterflies. To finish with the butterflies on this piece, I stamped one last butterfly in Wild Wisteria in the bottom right corner. I found a cute little flower in this set and I stamped that in Pure Plum, on the bottom left.

For the other white piece measuring 5 1/4” x 4,” I simply stamped the flower image in Pure Plum on the bottom right. I followed that by stamping two butterflies around it, in Wild Wisteria.

I moved on from there to my little piece of scrap paper. I had found in this set of stamps a cute little banner, with the word Celebrate. I stamped that image on my scrap paper. I had a few little label dies from My Favorite Things and I thought, since I am horrible at fussy cutting, I could use that to do most of the work. Once I ran that through the BigKick, all I had to do was cut the flagged ends. I set this piece aside, because I wanted to do something a little bit different with it, to put it on the front of my card.

From there, it was time to start assembling my card. I took the two larger layers for the front of my card and layered them on the front using my tape runner.

Now, I wanted to incorporate that beautiful baker’s twine in this card. So, I layered my smaller layers together, using tape runner, also making sure to add a couple of little spots across the back of the card. I didn’t add much, as this was just designed to hold the twine in place. From there, I wrapped my twine around, making sure to cross on the front, to form a pretty little bow like effect. I added my foam squares to the back and I placed this piece right in the center of my card front.

Now, I turned my attention to that adorable little banner. Using my bone folder, I held the little banner between my thumb and the bone folder and pulled the banner through. This method is how I formed the banner like ripple. I made sure to bend the flagged ends up. I put a glue dot on either end of the banner and added that right above my little butterfly in the bottom right corner.

After layering my inside pieces to their spot, I thought I would be done. However, when I looked at the card in its “finished” state, I was not pleased. It was missing something.

So, I colored the flower on both the front and inside of the card. I still was not satisfied, so I added a rhinestone at both inward points of the banner. Once I did that, I was very pleased with this card. I was not just pleased, I was overjoyed! I think this card turned out so adorable!
