Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy!
My favorite day of the week, SUNDAY!!! A day to rest and give some serious thanks to God above to allowing me to live another day. Like I do every Sunday on this site, I would like to talk about being a Christian.
Today’s post is something that I have been asked often, “Are Christians leading completely happy lives?”
The very short answer to this is, kind of. When we became Christians and accepted Christ into our hearts, all of our problems, worries, stresses, and pain did not magically disappear. The Bible tells us that we are to pick up our crosses and follow Christ, that kind of gives us the hint that not everything is going to be all roses and chocolates.
We still have bad days, days that we wish we could forget, painful days that leave us feeling devastated. The difference between before becoming a Christian and now, we know we aren’t alone in it all. We know that God is not going to put on us more than we can bear. We know that he will answer our prayers. The common misconception that all Christians are happy all the time is exactly that, a misconception.
The fact of the matter is, we still sin. I know what a shock, but we do. We make mistakes and we stumble and that is okay. God doesn’t expect us to be perfect, just like we shouldn’t expect God to fix all of our problems with no support or effort from us. Do you fix all of your husband’s or child’s problems without expecting a thing from them? Why ask God to do that then?
As you all know, my father is a preacher. One of the things he has done many times is pray the prayer of Salvation with people. He always tells them, “You have accepted Jesus into your heart, this a joyous day. I just need to tell you, that while you have made the most amazing friend, you have also gained a pretty big enemy. Satan will come after you, he will try to win your soul back, be prepared and lean on God and on Jesus to get through and fight him off.” Or some form of that speech. It’s so true!! I know in my life, Satan has come for me and against me pretty hard at times. There are the times that I successfully fought him off, with God of course. Then, there are the times that he was able to trip me up. I fell hard and went into a bat of inner turmoil. The only way I was able to get out of that pit of darkness was through God. He helped me to see that it’s okay to fall, it’s not okay to stay down. I had to pick myself help, dust myself off, and get back to his work. I can’t allow Satan to steal my joy.
Yes, as a Christian, I lead a very happy life. I also have had pain and sadness. For me, all of the pain and sadness is washed away and the joy that God and his Son bring me far outweighs the other.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post. If you did, feel free to give this a like, comment, and share so others can enjoy this as well. I definitely appreciate it so much!
