Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy!!
This morning I thought it would be fun to share a small update on my crochet goals. Trust me, it’s small…I’m still crocheting. Haha.
I have been working here recently just in the evening while my little man plays with his toys and my husband relaxes on the couch. With the little one home on Christmas Break, I have been chasing him around the house and definitely cleaning up far more than I’m forced to during school days.
I have also been working on the website. I am looking forward to trying new things and working on writing as much as possible for you. I have been enjoying typing my heart out on the site and being able to see how much you all enjoy it.
With that being said, I am still working on a Corner to Corner blanket. The yarn I am using is Worsted weight, Premier Yarns, Sweet Rolls, color: Gelato Pop. Now, the interesting thing about this yarn, I’m not even sure as I am typing this that I would have enough to make the blankets that I am wanting to make using this yarn. So, to make sure that at least one complete blanket is finished, I will be making this blanket smaller for my youngest niece. She is just a little over a year old now and by the time next Christmas rolls around, I know that she will love how soft this yarn is.
I am judging the size of this blanket entirely based on sight and feeling. When it feels as though it is big enough for her, I will end the blanket. That is definitely one of the best perks of the Corner to Corner blanket pattern. You are able to adapt the blanket to whatever size you desire. This opens the door for creating as tiny or huge a blanket you want. How cool is that?
I have picked a few patterns that work that for other blankets as well. I tend to never really know how big I am going to make a blanket until I have already started. Once I start seeing just how the design matches up with the colors I am working with, as well as the size of the person I am crocheting for, I am able to distinguish roughly how big I am going to go.
One blanket that I will be working on will be a very basic horizontal striped blanker. I am going to be working on this blanket for our one and only nephew. I have chosen this design due to the size of the yarn I will be working with, plus knowing that this blanket will be for a boy that is just as wild and crazy as my little man; it will be a bit more durable. Let’s face it, boys tend to be quite rough with everything they receive. I know this because Monkey is notorious for roughhousing with absolutely everything!
With the Virus Blanket, I have come to a stopping point. Running out of yarn because I would like to go bigger on this blanket. So, I picked up my crochet hook and new yarn and started on something a bit different to keep it interesting.
