Hello Goals!

Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy!

One of the things that I have been enjoying about this new house would have to be this beautiful backyard. I enjoy just sitting out here and listening to all of the sounds out here. In the early morning hours, watching the sunlight come across this area, truly is peaceful.

It was sitting on this back patio that inspired me. Every year, I spend the two to three weeks after Christmas, thinking about the next Christmas and how I would do things differently. I was thinking about all of the gifts we had given and I didn’t care for how few gifts were actually handmade. So, as I was watching my little boy playing in the backyard and my husband working on his projects, I had an idea. How about attempting to make a throw for each and every family member.

Now, I am well aware of just how much crocheting I am going to be doing over the next eleven months. However, I know that putting my heart and soul into each blanket will make them happy. Just to give an idea of the amount of crocheting I will be doing. I have three nieces, a nephew, a brother, a sister-in-law, two sisters, both parents, and both grandmothers. So, a total of twelve throws will be crocheted. I am working on a Virus Blanket and a Corner to Corner as of right now. I am absolutely guilty of never buying enough yarn for one project. I have surprisingly enough yarn to make my youngest niece a little blanket.

When I set a goal to crochet several projects, I tend to work on a couple of projects at once. I am notorious for not getting enough yarn to completely work a project. Usually what happens, I think to myself that a nice lap throw would be plenty. As I begin working on the project, I begin thinking about how pretty the pattern is and I am enjoying the colors. Before I know it, I have talked myself into making the project a lot bigger. Now, my husband will tell people that I purposely don’t get enough yarn, so I can go to JoAnn’s and Starbucks. We definitely don’t have to tell him that, that is a huge happy addition to being silly me.

Now, I do love this backyard and I am falling more and more in love with this house as we make it our own. In the upcoming posts, I will definitely be sharing with you all our progress on projects for the house and our thought process on them. There are four bookshelves that I absolutely cannot wait to share with you. My husband typically makes the cuts, designs it, I stain the wood, he puts it all together, and I put the last touches of design on it. I love that my husband and I are able to both use our creativity together. His creativity and work inspires me. I love that typically, we have the exact same thoughts on projects and things go seamlessly.

There is so much to share and I am feverishly typing to share all of it with you. Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you enjoyed today’s post. If you did, feel free to like, comment, and share this post so others can enjoy it as well. In between posts, feel free to head over to and follow my facebook page. Happy Krafting!!!
