Monthly Cards

Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy.

Today has been such a good day. I am trying to adjust to writing while the munchkin is on Summer Break, it is coming along. We are both having to adjust to new schedules and trying to have fun while we do it. So far, I have played hide and seek about five hundred times, I Spy easily two hundred times, and Army “Dudes,” a good thirty times. It has been a blast being able to put adulting to the side for a bit to be a kid with my kid. It truly has been a blessing. Now, it’s time to get to work and share a lovely card with all you amazing people.

I have been doing some reading in my Bible here recently and I kept coming across stories about people using their talents to bless those around them. I have something I truly love doing, paper crafting. In thinking about how I can make this something I can do for those around me, the idea of monthly cards came to mind.

So, I wanted to get some inspiration, hello, YouTube. Dawn Griffith from dawnsstampinthoughts.net came to mind. When I was looking through some of her creations, I worked a lovely card. Not only is this card beautiful, it also was super easy to make a large amount. With all of that lovely information, let’s get on with the description.

The Paper:

Card Base: White 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches, scored at 4.25 inches

Black 2 pieces, measuring 5 3/8 inches by 4 1/8 inches

White 2 pieces, measuring 5 1/4 by 4 inches

Black measuring 4 1/8 inches by 3 3/8 inches

White measuring 4 inches by 3 1/4 inches

I took one of the white pieces measuring 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches and stamped one flower in bottom right corner. This piece is for the inside of the card. I thought it would be a nice touch to decorate this inside of the card as well.

I layered the white pieces measuring 5 1/4 inches by 4 inches on to the black pieces measuring 5 3/8 inches by 4 1/8 inches. Then I layered them on the card. At this point, I was ready to move on to stamping the smaller white pieces.

I stamped the same flower as the inside piece on to the smaller pieces. I stamped three of the large flowers. I found in the same stamp set these small beautiful flowers. I stamped them in the Early Espresso ink from Stampin’ Up to fill in the blank space. I made a point to put three rhinestones on some flowers. On the sample that I showed in this post, the rhinestones seem to be a bit big for my taste. I am very lucky in the fact that these cards aren’t being mailed out until June first. I will go with a smaller rhinestone. I think that will make the card a bit more dainty and more finished. I then layer the white piece on the black piece measuring, 4 1/8 inches by 3 3/8 inches. Then I centered that piece along left side of the card; centering from bottom to top, using dimensionals.

I took a scrap piece of white paper and stamped my sentiment, in Early Espresso. I then took my 1 3/4 inch circle die cut and ran that through my Sizzix BigKick. I followed that with punching out a 2 inch scallop circle punch. I layer the white circle onto the black scallop circle. I used dimensionals to pop up my scallop circle.

I tied a knot in a pretty piece of black ribbon and placed it at the top of my sentiment circle piece. I thought adding this piece would definitely elevate the overall look of my card. I was very happy with the results.

I truly enjoyed making this card and I can’t wait to mail these out to all of my loved ones. I think it is a great thing to receive something in the mail that is not junk mail or a blasted bill. I know I always enjoy receiving my letters each month from my grandmother and I hope that she will enjoy her card.

While I am working on these cards, be sure to drop a comment down below, I will be picking one of the comments and sending a card to that lucky winner. It is my way of thanking everyone for visiting the site and showing me so much love. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you.

I really hope you enjoyed today’s post. If you did, feel free to give this post a like, comment, or share, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for stopping by today. Until next time,

Thank you and God Bless!

Happy Krafting!
