Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy!
How are we all doing on this beautiful day? Today has been full of planning and working away on crafts. I wanted to give a bit of a description on the garden markers that I recently worked on with my husband.
Monkey’s school is starting a new month, which means a fun new theme! Bugs and Plants! When his sweet teacher asked if I could make a few garden markers for the garden, I was so happy. I love doing things for my little man’s class.
I have never made garden markers before, so this was a fun experience. I went online and looked at hundreds of pictures. I found the style I wanted. When I went to Michaels to get the flowers for that last wreath, I was going to pick up some cute little wooden plaques, plans changed. My amazing and sweet husband volunteered to make the stakes for me. That was awesome!
He used an old wooden pallet and made the plaques. Then, he took boards and formed the stakes. Once he put them together, he sanded them down to make sure I had a nice surface to work with. From there, I did the rest. Which actually was nowhere near as much work as my husband put in. I opened each bag of seeds and placed them in a ziplock bag, cut the front of the seed bag off, and Mod Podged that on to the plaque. Once they were dry, I did a couple of coats of Mod Podge to ensure the picture was sealed. Then using a paint pen, I wrote in big white letters the name of the plant.
Monday, when I took Monkey to school, we happily delivered our lovely garden markers. His amazing teacher was thrilled to receive them and I was more than happy to give her something that we all worked on.
I know this seems short, but, I’m not done yacking just yet! I wanted to let you know that I am officially insane. Not just insane, completely crazy about crochet at the moment. I have been working on my moms virus blanket, my husbands c2c blanket, and I am looking into getting some patterns for some purses for my beautiful niece. I have also been wanting to make some coasters for my sister-in-law. These are just to name a few things that will be coming up in future posts. Yarn is going to be the topic for a lot of posts, but it certainly won’t be the only thing I discuss.
I am also getting ready to start working on some upcoming birthday cards. My beautiful niece, my mom, and my brother are all celebrating birthday’s in May. My grandmother will be celebrating her birthday in April. I have a couple of birthday’s in June. I try to get them finished a little early. Why? Because people have different schedules than I do and I always try to give their cards and gifts before their birthdays. My brother and his family love going to the beach, going on fishing trips, and going out on the boat with friends. If he has that planned, then I will have to work around that to ensure that he receives his card before then. (Just to give an example.)
I will also be working on some more wreaths! I have a couple of fun ideas and I have some amazing family members that have beautiful doors for these to hang. I enjoy making random gifts for people. Is it not the best thing to receive a gift when a holiday or your birthday is not involved? I will also be sharing each one with you and hopefully you will enjoy them.
I have some friends that have recently moved, there comes in some awesome home decor crafts. I will be searching the internet for some cool things to do for them. As they are doing a southern style look to their new home, I will be looking into crafts that will fit that theme.
In the midst of doing all of these fun crafts, I will also be trying out some new crafting stuff. I will be doing comprehensive reviews of those products. I will also be working on a new flower arrangement for my church. The idea for what I want to do is in my journal and I am so excited for it.
I will also be working on some things for my son’s teachers. His PreK class will be graduating in May. This will be a bittersweet day for his teachers. He attends a school at a local church, unfortunately, they will be closing their doors after the graduation. I want to make something for each of the wonderful ladies that have been such an amazing part of Monkey’s life. I have a few ideas and I am hoping to narrow them down and get busy on them. I will also be taking you on that journey as well.
There are a lot of things happening and I hope you will join me for each of them. This website is growing and I am loving that! I want to thank each of you for stopping by and visiting this site. It truly means the world to me! I hope you enjoyed today’s post. If you did, feel free to give this a like or drop a comment below letting me know! I post every day, so let your friends know so they can join the fun too! Until next time,
Thank you and God Bless!
