Hi! My name is Alishia and I am a KraftaholicMommy!
Dealers, oh we have to have dealers for our addiction don’t we? I am really excited about giving a bit of a review about this particular dealer. JoAnn’s is pretty much my main dealer.
Like last Dealer Sunday, I would like to start off with a little bit of a history lesson on JoAnn. Established in 1943, in Hudson, Ohio, JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts has grown to over 850 stores. The headquarters can be found in the founding state of Ohio. JoAnn was founded by German immigrants who started a cheese store. They added fabrics and soon they realized there was a demand for more crafting supplies. When JoAnn was first beginning to develop more stores, they were originally put in malls. Obviously, over the years that has changed and JoAnn’s has become the store we know and love today.
Now that the history lesson is over, let’s get to the meat and potatoes of the discussion. I always find myself smiling as I pull into the parking lot of my local JoAnn’s. When I walk in those front doors, it smells like Christmas. The inspirational decor is right up front to draw you in. I absolutely love the little pieces they have for every season, holiday, or special occasion. There is at least a little something for everyone to enjoy. I truly love how much stuff they carry.
Walking to the yarn section, I am always pleased at how neat and organized it always is. I also love the amount of Caron Simply Soft skeins they carry. I have yet to find a store that carries more options in colors of that kind of yarn, than JoAnn. I am always pleased that they also seem to be constantly adding new Sweet Rolls to the shelves. I am a girl who loves options in the yarn department and JoAnn’s never disappoints.
As I am a major paper crafter as well, I can really appreciate that section of their store as well. I really love their stamps and I definitely love their cardstock selection. It is always well stocked and again, well organized. There is a large selection of punches and embossing folders as well. One thing I would love to see in that section is more of a selection of thinlits and maybe a BigKick or something similar. I like that they carry the nice thick acrylic stamp mounts in a variety of sizes.
The clearance section is always being added to and the prices are drastically reduced. I have noticed in some other stores, their clearance items are only marked down by a dollar at most. You do not run into that problem in JoAnn.
Now, I know I have said that I love my Michaels employees, but JoAnn’s employees are giving them a run for their money. The ladies that I have met at JoAnn’s have taken the time to learn my name. Some, have even taken the time to learn what kind of crafting supplies I shop for most and are ready to show me new products they have gotten in. The employees make you feel appreciated and welcome. I cannot tell you how many other crafting stores I have visited, that did not share in that regard.
The best part of JoAnn is the already lower prices than most stores, even better are their coupons. If you sign up for their emails, sweet Lord, you will get some awesome coupons. 40-50% off items, 20% off total purchases, and the fact that they let you use more than one coupon in one transaction is amazing! There aren’t too many crafting stores that allow that.
I have been ranting and raving about the coupons and the staff, let’s talk about their online store. While I am one who does not like to wait too long for my crafting supplies, there are those times, I have too. Shopping on the JoAnn site is super easy and boy, are they fast about getting the products out to you. I bought a couple of tin vases not too long ago and while the email confirmation stated it would take a couple of weeks, I received my package in less than three days. That always makes me happy. Finding what I was looking for was super easy. Paying was even easier, and the wait was actually not that bad.
JoAnn also has a little bit of an extra to their stores. When you first walk in, you are greeted by a cute table that is covered in projects. Crochet, paper, Mod Podge and even kid crafts. They are the displays for the classes that they offer, however, I love looking at them for inspiration. Usually there is a person there at the table ready to answer any questions you may have, but I just enjoy talking to them about what current projects they are working on. It is always a pleasure to talk crafting with a fellow crafter.
While I love my JoAnn’s, there is a little something I would change about them. First, I would love if mine in particular opened before 10am. I am an early bird when it comes to visiting crafting stores. It would be nice, if they were open just a smidge earlier. The other thing I would change, bigger stores. Mine is packed to the brim with things and that is amazing, but there is no such thing as a too large JoAnn’s, am I right?
This KraftaholicMommy is 100% in love with JoAnn’s. Let me know what you all love about JoAnns, I would love to read about it.
